SDEPL has in-house capabilities to design, develop, validate and deploy products & solutions in the field of maritime autonomy. It has indigenously developed/built the software and hardware required for those products. Building traditional naval capability through large vessels is expensive and slow. With the ocean covering over 70% of the earth’s surface, autonomous vessels are the key to monitoring and responding to threats faced by different countries. Autonomous surface, subsurface and aerial vessels with sensors and weapons provide significant capabilities at a lower cost.

Sagar's products include Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV), Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV), and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). Its core product: “GENISYS – boat in a box” is platform agnostic and can be retrofitted to different types of vehicles irrespective of their shape, size and propulsion. It collects subsea data and communicates it to satellites and land.

With the successful test of SDEPL’s autonomous boat – Matangi on a challenging 1500 nautical mile journey on high seas between Mumbai, Maharashtra to Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu over 3 days, the company has proven its technical capabilities and is poised to reap the benefits. It also is in various stages of R&D for numerous other advanced systems that should be commercialised over the next 5 years.

Liquid Robotics, a Boeing subsidiary has also entered into a JV with SDEPL for co-development and manufacturing of Unmanned Surface Vessels for undersea domain awareness.
